many twisted years ago

river ran by out of sight
many twisted years ago.

there, a smile held a clue;
wandered to and fro.

rocked the boat, hid the oars;
hummed, row jimmy, row.

redwood halls held raven dawns;
caws fell misty echoed.

river ran right on by;
jade winks played shadows.

reflections framed in pebbled banks;
eddied mirrorlife as seasons flowed.

steelhead flashed, ran vast in wonder;
leapt lit ripples of broken glow.

river ran by out of sight
many twisted years ago.

slices of moon

a thought like a bullet
cross hairs on a heart
moving target in a hurricane
dodging cupids darts

racing through the years
stopping time in the tall trees
hopping memories like freight trains
earthquake drum rhythmed bloodstreams

past years pass by in minutes
deep sleep slips off of tumbling dreams
sand slips in the hourglass
and nothing's what it seems

we're all hoping for more
never settling for less
turning up the volume
to fill the air with a sound bet

wagering on each other to
win wings sometime soon
we reach for the stars
holding sharp slices of moon

once you've tasted

so many reasons and ways to go
those songs and all that musico
dancing dances 'til the dawn comes round
showing some stories 'til others are found

so many things and places to be
all baggage we carry drags 'til we set it free
skipping along from here to there
from stone to stone crossing rapids to somewhere

so many differences and similarities
all bridges connecting separate realities
picking vines crushing wines 'til the illusive is found
once you've tasted truth to yourself you're bound

then forever all the rest is cheap whiskey going down

     author is currently a technical illustrator/graphic artist of northern california. he was born in New York and moved to Los Angeles in the mid 60's. After adolescence in LA and a tour in the Air Force, max relocated to San Francisco and then Sonoma County where he started a serigraphy studio and service as well as jobbing at everything from construction to truck-driving. As founder and manager of Wild Boar Productions, Jim promoted and produced Truck Competitions and Shows as well as musical events in small and large venues in the wine country of northern California as well as contributing studio work and graphix. Has been described as an ocean that's only six inches deep.

     At this time is assembling a body of work in linocut and woodcut in preparation for a show at the California Museum of Fine Art in Santa Rosa (this is going very slowly).

     When Jim isn't working, he's usually scribbling down these little groups of symbols that somehow paint the edges of this thing called life.
